Feodor Chaliapin is quite possibly the greatest operatic bass the world has ever known. 2008 sees the 70th anniversary of his death in 1938. This collection of recordings date from a wide period of this remarkable singers life and career, from 1910 up until 1931. All the music he was most famously associated with is represented including arias from Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov”, Borodin’s “Prince Igor” and Glinka’s “The life of the Tsar”.
